Abstract

Ideally, mosques function as centers of civilization, but in fact existing mosques are only places for prayer, or at best as a place to learn some religious knowledge. If this is the case, then the high ideals of Islam, namely '' the formation of a just and prosperous country with the pleasure and mercy of Allah) will be difficult to achieve. For this reason, it is necessary to make strong efforts from Islamic scholars and leaders to empower the mosque so that it can function as it should. The mosque is a symbol of Islam. It is a barometer or measure of the atmosphere and condition of the Muslim community around it. So the construction of a mosque means the development of Islam in a society, the collapse of a mosque is the collapse of Islam in society, as recorded in history has inscribed the glories of Islamic civilization which is directly caused by by physical, spiritual and intellectual creativity at the center of civilization, namely the mosque. Therefore, if you want to achieve progress like the past, then Muslims must start from the mosque, by revitalizing the function of the mosque.
